Unfortunately, our society is in desperate flight from silence and solitude. We search for happiness in compulsive ways but, if we pay attention, our world is filled with the presence of God. Blessed are the poor who seek to find God, they shall surely meet themselves. In this Saturday morning “mini-retreat”, we will reflect upon themes of Growth: human and spiritual, Self: image and shadow and, Relationship: Blessed are they who seek God, they shall find other seekers.

Join Christ the King Lutheran Church, West Campus on Memorial Drive, for Ash Wednesday  service from Noon - 1pm followed by Ashes to Go if you are short on time from 1:00pm - 2:00pm. Ash Wednesday is the beginning of a journey, the journey to the Cross.  The Season of Lent is usually seen as a penitential season but rather than focusing on guilt, perhaps it is a time to focus on growing into who God calls us to be.  As we begin this Lenten season, let it be a season of growth, a season of letting go, a season of turning toward the life that God envisions for us. The world tells us to take everything we get in this life, to breathe in all there is.  But Ash Wednesday is the day when we begin to finally breathe out so that God can fill us yet again.

When God wants to do something new in your life, to give you a new beginning, are you able to surrender and let God direct your path? Let's explore what those barriers might be, preventing you from saying, "Yes" to being transformed according to God's plan.
